Foxton Construction is proud to announce that Unusual Rigging’s pioneering new headquarters has won Corporate Workspace of the Year 2025 and the prestigious Best of the Best Award at the BCO National Awards.

Held in October at the Grosvenor Hotel in London, the ceremony brought together leading voices from across the built environment—making the recognition even more significant for a project that set out to challenge conventions and redefine what a sustainable workplace can be.

Shortlisted earlier this year, the scheme was celebrated by the BCO for its forward-thinking design, exceptional energy performance, and industry-leading approach to circular construction. Delivered by Foxton Construction in collaboration with Corstorphine & Wright and Momentum Structural Engineers, the new headquarters for Unusual Rigging offers a compelling blueprint for low-carbon, high-performance workplace design.

From day one, the project embraced innovation at every stage. Built around Passivhaus rules of thumb and the principles of a circular economy, the building features a Glulam timber frame, recycled flooring systems, clay-based paints, rainwater harvesting, repurposed steel, and recycled aluminium window frames. The installation of high-efficiency PV panels ensures the building produces more energy than it consumes, while meticulous detailing resulted in an outstanding air permeability score of 0.96m³/hr/m². The headquarters also became the world’s first pilot project to trial Adaptavate’s Breathaboard, a non-gypsum, carbon-smart alternative to traditional plasterboard.

Delivering such an ambitious scheme required a collaborative, agile approach. Throughout the 44-week construction programme, Foxton worked closely with the client and design team to ensure each sustainable ambition was realised on site—testing new materials, adapting methods, and challenging the industry’s standard assumptions.
