Foxton Construction has been appointed to support Sheffield Wednesday F.C. with the refurbishment of the North Stand at Hillsborough Stadium, with the initial phase of works now successfully completed ahead of the Club’s first fixture of the new season.

Following its appointment, the Foxton team worked collaboratively with Arup to develop and deliver an agreed programme of essential works, ensuring the stand was ready to welcome spectators for the Club’s first fixture on the 20th of August.

Working in a complex live environment, the project presented several technical challenges, including refurbishing an existing structure, working at height, and safely managing existing paint.

The initial phase of works included structural weld repairs and remedial drainage improvements, helping to enhance the spectator experience and address essential requirements within the North Stand.

With a tight programme and a fixed deadline ahead of the first fixture, close coordination between the Foxton site team and its trusted supply chain enabled the works to be mobilised quickly and delivered safely and efficiently.

With the initial works now complete, the project is progressing into its next phase, which will focus on the repainting of the North Stand, restoring it to its iconic Sheffield Wednesday blue.

The refurbishment forms part of Foxton Construction’s growing portfolio of work within the sport and leisure sector, with the team bringing its experience in delivering technically complex projects within live environments.
